I am sad to say…

… I won’t be cooking for a few days. I hurt my back while bowling a couple of weeks ago and have been hobbling around but still able to do most things (just a bit slower). Unfortunately, while changing the sheets on my son’s bed on Friday afternoon, I threw my lower back (SI joint) out. I have been in severe pain since then and have very little mobility. Thankfully, I have an appointment tomorrow to see if I can get some relief. A BIG HUGE THANK YOU to my amazing husband and children who have been so helpful and patient with me during this time.

I hope to be back to cooking very soon.

  1. Feel better soon! I have a bad back too. Best symptomatic relief for me is electric stimulation, one pad on the spine, one on the hip. It’s only temporary but lord it feels good to have temporary relief.

  2. Hope you are feeling better soon…back problems are the worst. You need to rest and give it time, even though that’s hard to do (especially with children). We look forward to your next posts. We will pray for you.

  3. Oh, I know exactly how you feel! I have had SI joint issues for years – it can be so debilitating and painful! The only thing that ever helps me is many trips to the chiro and being VERY alert to my body. Any little twinges of discomfort and I stop what I am doing immediatly and rest. I hope you are able to get the relief you need.

  4. I’m so sorry for your injury, Pam.. Hope that you’ll feel better before long..It’s really nice that you at least have some help at home 🙂 Will pray that you’ll be pain free and back to blogging in no time! Lots of hugs!

  5. Ouch…that sounds very painful! I feel so bad for you, and as a Mom, I know how hard it is to rest and let your family take care of you. Good luck at your doctor appt. today. Get well soon, Pam!

  6. Oh, Pam! That sounds awful. Praying you will have a much faster than anticipated recovery. Hopefully the doctor will be able to help!

  7. I hope it isn’t a herniated disc like I had 3 years back. I wasn’t even bowling; I just bent the wrong way. You have my deepest sympathy!

  10. I told my hubs that making the bed was not good for your health. I did the same thing putting clean sheets on our bed just before Christmas. Hope you feel better soon.

  11. Oh no. Nothing worse than backpain, because your mind and the rest of your body wants to do stuff, but every single think involves your back. Get well!

  13. Wishing you a complete recovery. You will be missed. When I injured mine, I did physical therapy since I was terrified of hurting it again.

  14. Pam, just found your site and love it! Hope you are on the mend, take your time, rest and feel better.
I can relate as I like many before me done the same and had 2 surgeries – getting the right treatment, therapy and or advice can be tricky to say the least.
I have been blessed with my outcomes but till this day , watch all I do, get soar and struggle and have bad days but they dont outweigh the good ones!!!
Here is to better days ahead for you – Best wishes

  16. I’m so sorry!! Hope you are on the mend soon! Back problems are the worst…I’m put out at least once a year with lower lumbar issues. On a different note, I’m obsessed with your roasted veggie minestrone and am featuring it today as a “warm-you-up” recipe! Love your site.

  17. Pam: I hope you’ll feel better soon! I know how difficult it is to injure the back area. I’ve gone to see a couple of Acupuncturist in the past and they have helped tremendously. Anyway, get well and take care!

  18. This is exactly what I was looking for today!!!!! I am brainstorming ideas for my sister’s upcoming baby shower and your post just made my night! Thank you!!!!
