Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini with Balsamic Glaze

Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini with Balsamic Glaze

I’ve always wanted to try Ina Garten’s fig and goat cheese crostini with balsamic glaze, and since it’s fig season, I decided to finally give it a try. Ina serves hers on large pieces of toast but I wanted just a light appetizer before dinner so I went with crostini. I made some homemade fig and honey jam and spread it on the crostini then slathered some softened goat cheese on top followed by some fig slices. I topped them off with a little drizzle of balsamic glaze right before serving. These fig and goat cheese crostini with balsamic glaze were a fun new appetizer to try and we all enjoyed it.

Make the fig and honey jam. Click here for the recipe.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Place the sliced baguette on a baking tray then bake for 4-5 minutes, or until lightly golden brown and toasted. Remove from the oven.

Slather some cooled fig jam on each crostini.

If the goat cheese isn’t softened, place it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until it’s creamy and spreadable. Carefully spread the goat cheese over the fig jam, leaving the edges of the fig spread visible.

Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Place sliced figs on top of each crostini. Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze. Serve immediately. Enjoy.
