Bacon Ranch Green Beans

This quick and easy green bean recipe is loaded with mushrooms, bacon, garlic, & crispy onions and is a delicious side dish suitable for any occasion.

I love the combination of crisp-tender green beans with mushrooms & onions but throwing in bacon, crispy onions, and ranch seasoning makes them extra special! I found this recipe on Dinner at the Zoo that sounded delicious and I thought these bacon ranch green beans would pair nicely with the pork chops I was serving for dinner. This recipe was simple to throw together and the whole family thought it was a tasty side dish.

How to Make Bacon Ranch Green Beans

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.  Add the onion and mushrooms and cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Season with a bit of sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Remove from the pan to a bowl and set aside until needed.

Place the green beans in the same skillet with 2 tablespoons of water and turn the heat up to medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally until the green beans are crisp-tender and the water has evaporated about 3-5 minutes.

Add the mushrooms and onions back to the skillet along with the last 1 tablespoon of butter and the ranch seasoning. Stir to coat evenly then taste and add more ranch until you get to your desired flavor level. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 1-2 minutes. Pour onto a serving plate and top with the toasted fried onions and bacon bits. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter, divided
  • ½ small red onion, diced
  • 4 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz haricot verts **If you use regular green beans, you will need to cook them a bit longer
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1-2 tsp Ranch dressing seasoning powder
  • 3 tbsp fried onions, toasted until golden brown
  • 2 tbsp bacon bits
