Customers are mixed about the heat distribution of the fry pan. Some mention that it's perfectly non-stick and it transfers the heat really well, it heats up very quick, and the heavy weight of the pan leads to good heat distribution. The metal is thin enough to heat quickly, yet thick enough to hold the heat and not cool down. It's gorgeous and you can sauté without oil, and it cooks things very quickly and efficiently. However, some say that it nearly unusable because it gets incredibly hot during cooking and it requires a very hot gas flame.
"...it has a wonderful cooking surface, nothing sticks and heat is distributed very nicely.... there are some things to just be aware of, they are not..." Read more

"...I use it almost every day. It cooks things very quickly and efficiently - I was able to caramelize onions in less than 10 minutes!!..." Read more
Customers are mixed about the ease of cleaning the saute fry pan. Some mention that it clears up very quickly with hot water, while others say that it needs to be scrubbed before seasoning. Some say that there are some low quality/impurity spots in the steel and that it will require a lot of elbow grease.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
1. do the research and follow the directions and advice. the negative reviews are by people who did not
2. the heating/curing process worked on the only 1200BTU burner on my ministove. the only hitch was getting the inside of the wok around the three handle rivets. I got creative and a little dangerous. but it turned out ok without serious injury (pictured above)
3. this is a truly non-stick surface if used correctly. season the wok. before cooking, preheat the wok to smoking, then apply oil (or other fats) for cooking, then you food. anything that has kind of stuck or burned on so far has been easily removed by light scrubbing.
4. have patience and use oil or another fat to cook. I first attempted cooking an egg without any butter/oil - it did not go well. second attempt, I added butter, and I was flipping the thing around all over the place (pictured above). same with the sweet italian sausage patties.
5. the cast iron support ring (pictured above). I got the cheap model - there are complaints that it breaks. I suggest handling it with care. It fits on the cheapo ministove that came with my studio apartment. I love it. It's sitting on my 1200BTU burner and I can leave it on with my primary pot and some other cookware.
6. cleaning. I have a cast iron pan - which I have kept free of water for several years now. the videos showing people cleaning woks at the sink made me... uncomfortable. but it works beautifully - spray&brush (lightly). I make sure to wipe dry with paper towel, heat to smoking, then re-season with peanut oil.
7. fried rice. i've wanted to make fried rice since I was a kid 30 years ago. pictured above is my first and (as yet) only attempt. it was near perfect. again, I watched a lot of videos and followed direction. also deep fried some chicken wings in the style of my local New England Chinese restaurants. I think i'll make some more for lunch!
8. the handle. it is loose and expected to be loose - from drying out the wood. this happened when I superheated the metal to cure it. not a big deal to unscrew, tap/hammer in, and rescrew. I'm looking forward to staining and finishing the wood like another reviewer - a cherry stain sounds lovely
9. I didn't expect to use the wok that much. i'm so in love with it now it's going to remain on my primary burner semi-permanently. again, I was very intimidated. especially after reading the reviews. it's too easy to use once prepared and cared for properly. LOVE IT!
final word - this is an authentic (!) piece of Chinese cookware. it is solid and sturdy and I expect it to last longer than I will, if well cared for.

final word - this is an authentic (!) piece of Chinese cookware. it is solid and sturdy and I expect it to last longer than I will, if well cared for.
I searched and read and stumbled upon Craft Wok and had a strong feeling this is exactly what I wanted.
It arrived today and immediately I could tell it was super well made..It's not light..That might be an issue for smaller women or for those who want something lighter..for me, I love the weight, it makes it easier to cook..
I read many reviews and knew what I had to do to season and prepare it. I posted a lot of pictures and a video.
here's what I did and how long each step took:
- Washed it out and scrubbed completely two times...5 minutes
- I put it on a wok ring, turned on a 20,000 BTWU burner and let it rip! It didn't take nearly as long as i thought but after about 3 minutes or so, I saw the blue starting to form..Very exciting!
- I made sure to have a really good oven mitt and was very careful as obviously this is next level hot..but the weight of the wok is so good, as you can see in the photos, it would stay in different positions very easily.
I basically would tilt it here or there and leave for about a minute at most and move to a different section. It was easy to do and very gratifying!
The entire wok was blue and finished in about 15 minutes. Much less than I expected.
I let it cool down, then i coated it with avocado oil and heated it up again and wiped it down..then did a finishing coat of oil.
Then I heated up 3 or so tablespoons of oil, chopped some garlic and ginger and moved it all around...threw in some broccoli i had around...stir fried that for a few minutes, dumped it out and added a cup or two of water into the wok which was on high heat..and cleaned it.
Then when it cooled down i applied a thin coat of oil.
Two hours later
I just had to cook on it and made stir friend chicken and broccoli.
The surface was great to cook on...but there was some sticking because I turned the chicken before it was seared..
Perfect time to test cleaning while cooking! and i scraped off as i cooked and it was not bad.
The dinner was great but the cleaning is what I want to share.
I was able to clean 90% of the stuck food off with just boiling some water and scraping..then I used the bamboo cleaner brush to finish off and it was perfect!
Fantastic fun experience and wanted to share it with others considering this wok. One of my favorite purchases across categories ...ever!
Glad I took my time and didn't settle on the first highly reviewed one by Taylor & Ng..this wok is many leagues better made and substantial on every level.

This is NOT a cook right our of the box pan. It takes time (and patience) to properly clean, heat, and season the WOK before first use.... and once done, there is continued care to make sure it remains an awesome tool.
Second, it is heavier than most WOKs you are probably accustomed to... but hey, this is good solid material... weight is to be expected.
For what I got compared to the money I spent, I am exceptionally pleased.
