Ingredients
1
acorn squash
2
tbsp
butter
1-2
tbsp
brown sugar
to taste
1
tbsp
maple syrup
Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper
to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Slice each squash lengthwise in half. Scrape out the seeds and rinse.
Spread the butter all over each half of the squash. Sprinkle with brown sugar, then drizzle with maple syrup.
In a deep baking dish, add enough water to cover the bottom.
Place the squash cut-side facing up in the dish.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
Remove foil and turn the oven to broil to brown the tops of each squash–watch carefully so they don't burn.
You can slice into chunks or scoop out the flesh and eat it like mashed potatoes–whatever suits your fancy. Enjoy.
