Ingredients

olive oil

onion
diced

of garlic

ham steak

of chicken broth or vegetable broth

(1-lb)
bag of dried split peas
rinsed
1
bay leaf
Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper
to taste
2
carrots
diced
2
stalks of celery
diced
1
large russet potato
peeled and diced
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven pot over medium heat. Cook the onion until slightly tender, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic and ham & cook for 60 seconds.
Add the stock, split peas, and bay leaf to the pot, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Simmer over medium-low heat for 1½ - 2 hours.
Add the carrots, celery, and potatoes, then cook for an additional 30-45 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
Remove bay leaf.
If you want it to be a bit thicker, mix with an immersion blender for a few seconds. Serve and Enjoy.
