Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Homemade Chocolate Pudding

My poor daughter just got braces on her teeth yesterday. Not only did she miss out on eating Halloween candy, but her mouth is also still hurting today. I decided to surprise her with some homemade chocolate pudding because she loves it and it’s easy to eat when your teeth hurt. This is a quick and simple recipe I found at Hershey’s Kitchens that turned out creamy and delicious. My daughter was thrilled!! She loved eating this tasty pudding for dessert tonight while her brother ate some of his Halloween loot.

How to Make Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Stir together the sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Add the vanilla to the milk then slowly add the milk to the chocolate mixture while continually whisking.

Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until mixture starts to boil; boil and stir for 1 minute. Remove from the heat, stir in butter. Pour into individual dessert dishes. To avoid skin from forming on top, press saran wrap directly onto the surface; serve warm or refrigerator for 2 hours prior to serving cold. Serve plain or with whipped cream. Enjoy.

  1. Yummy – As a kid my favorite pie was chocolate because the filling and other puddings were always homemade – not sure if the boxed ones were around yet.

  2. I usually add an egg to my custard for an added depth of flavor. Poor Meg! Mark had braces, and there were some days which were just plain hard. I hope she’s feeling better soon.
