Manhattan
The last few times I’ve been out to dinner I have indulged in one of my favorite drinks–a Manhattan. It’s smooth, it’s strong, and it’s delicious. I decided to pick up the ingredients so I can make them at home if I want. I’ve always loved the flavor of rye whiskey so I used it for this drink. Splurging on really good cherries for this cocktail is a must because the bright pink maraschino cherries just don’t work. The deep red bing jarred cherries are the best if you can find them.
How to Make a Manhattan
Pour the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and a couple of drops of bitters in an ice-filled glass; stir well. Strain into a chilled glass. Serve with a couple of really good cherries. Enjoy.
Ingredients
- 2 oz rye whiskey or bourbon
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 drops of bitters
- 2-3 really good cherries I love Bada Bing brand

This was my parents drink of choice but one has to be careful with them – they would often get to my mom.
Love a Manhattan. I will have to look for the special cherries. Thanks.
All right Pam. Way to go.
My grandmother loved Manhattans. I just love the glass. But now I think I need those cherries for something – I don’t know what, but something!
Sounds delicious something I have never tried. Mist look for some Bourbon! Take care Diane
