Apple-Cranberry Galette
This beautiful rustic pie, with fresh cranberries nestled among cinnamon-apple slices, is a wonderful finale for a holiday meal.
I threw this apple-cranberry galette together for a quick and easy weeknight dessert. I always keep store-bought pie crust on hand to make life easier during the week. Since it’s the holiday season, I decided to make an apple-cranberry galette and serve it with some vanilla ice cream. I really loved the combination of the cinnamon-coated apples, the buttery crust, and the tart cranberries and so did the rest of my family. This rustic pie paired beautifully with vanilla ice cream but I’m sure it would be tasty with whipped cream too.
How to Make an Apple-Cranberry Galette
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the apple slices into a bowl and sprinkle the lemon juice on them and gently toss to coat the slices with the juice. Add the sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon to the apples then toss to coat each slice of apple evenly.
Place the apple slices in a spiral inside the pie crust starting one inch from the edge. Fold the edge of the dough over the fruit. Sprinkle the top of the galette with some fresh cranberries. Brush the dough with the beaten egg. Sprinkle the edges with the raw sugar. Add the diced butter to the top of the apples.
Place into the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove the galette from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy.

What a beautiful galette! I like the add of cranberries..so festive!
I’d like to make this super easy dessert. Can I reconstitute dried cranberries in hot water & use them? I only have a bag of dried ones. Thank you.
Angelina,
I have only tried it with fresh cranberries so I’m not sure how it would turn out but I have a feeling it would be fine. Please let me know how it goes if you give it a try.

Beautiful galette and perfect for the holiday season.
On my to-do list, this sounds delicious, yum yum. Keep safe Diane
Amount of cornstarch was missing in recipe.
Dorothy,
Thank you! I have added it to the recipe.

As noted, there isn’t cornstarch or quantity in recipe. Also I would like to know if you have a homemade pie crust?
Thanks!
Amy,
Thank you for letting me know! I have corrected the recipe to show 2 teaspoons of cornstarch. I hope you like the galette! As for homemade pie crust, if I have the time to make it, I use Ina Garten’s recipe–here is the link: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/perfect-pie-crust-recipe-1919026
I hope this helps!

So pretty and I love the flavors of apple and cranberry together. That sweet tartness is just perfect.
I practiced making this tonight before Thanksgiving! It was delicious and such a lighter alternative to a heavy apple pie. I did learn a thing or two. I sliced apples too thin and I should’ve used honey crisp instead of granny smith apples. Will definitely be on the dessert table for Thanksgiving.
Ashley,
I think the honey-crisp apples worked really well. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and plan to make it for your Thanksgiving feast–I’m going to make it (again) too!
