Chicken and Sweet Potato Dog Treats
These easy homemade chicken and sweet potato dog treats are a tasty healthy treat that your pup will love.
Grace was out of treats so I made these chicken and sweet potato dog treats for her. Making dog treats at home is so easy and our sweet girl just loves them! For this simple homemade dog treat recipe, I used some flour, oats, leftover chicken, mashed sweet potato, and an egg. I baked them until crispy and once cooled, Grace devoured one and begged me for a second one immediately.
How to Make Chicken and Sweet Potato Dog Treats
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Boil the peeled sweet potato over medium-high heat in a small saucepan until very tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and mash the potato until creamy. Set aside to cool.
Once the potato has cooled, add the flour, oats, well-beaten egg, chopped chicken, fresh parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined. Add a touch more flour, if the dough is too wet.
Working on a floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Using dog treat cutters, cut out desired shapes, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown and crisp, about 25-30 minutes.
Cool completely on a wire rack, they will continue to harden as they cool.
Store in an airtight container in the freezer or refrigerator. Enjoy.
