Porcini Powder

Porcini Powder

I spent way too much time driving from store to store today looking for porcini powder. After stopping at three stores, I finally decided to Google how to make porcini powder. I was excited to see that it is just finely ground-dried porcini mushrooms!! Yay!! I felt silly that I hadn’t realized it sooner, but oh well. I grabbed a bag of local organic dried porcinis at the grocery store and came home to make my very own porcini powder. Three minutes after I started, I had my elusive ingredient! Porcini powder is amazing! It gives a great depth of flavor when sprinkled on meat like beef, pork. and chicken, and it’s also wonderful with pasta, in soups, and sprinkled on eggs, and potatoes. I saved the strained mushroom pieces to use the next time I make a soup, vegetable stock, or stew.
