Baked Avocado Fries with Chipotle Garlic Aioli
I’ve always wanted to try making baked avocado fries and I am so glad I finally gave it a try. I decided to dredge them in flour and egg then coated them in panko before baking. Since I have it, I used my convection setting on my oven to allow these avocado fries to get extra crispy without having to flip them over halfway through cooking. They were a snap to make and tasted fantastic dipped in the spicy chipotle garlic aioli. These avocado fries were really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside–we all thought they were amazing.
How to Make Baked Avocado Fries with Chipotle Garlic Aioli
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray. Side Note: Use the convection bake setting on your oven if you have it otherwise use the regular bake setting.
Cut the avocado in half, remove the seed, then cut each half into quarters. Carefully peel the skin and dispose of it. Slice each quarter into a few wedges.
Use three different bowls, one for the flour, one for the beaten egg, and one for the panko crumbs. Season the flour with garlic powder, paprika, sea salt, and freshly cracked pepper, to taste; mix well.
Dip the avocado fries first into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally the panko mixture, making sure to coat the wedges completely. Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet a few inches apart.
Convection bake directions: Place into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Regular bake directions: If you are using the regular bake setting on your oven, bake for 6-7 minutes then carefully flip over and cook the other side for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the avocado fries are baking, make the chipotle garlic aioli by combining the mayonnaise, minced garlic, and some of the chipotle adobo liquid; mix until well combined. Taste and add more chipotle adobo liquid if you want it spicier.
When the avocado fries have finished baking, remove them from the oven and place them on a serving plate. Serve immediately with the chipotle garlic aioli and lime wedges on the side. Enjoy.

They are my favourite and I always end up eating too much because they are so GOOD!
Very clever Pam, I would never have thought of this. I would also never have thought of deep fried asparagus until I tried it in a restaurant – delicious. I see my info below was filled in for me. Thanks
I have never baked avocado but I am definitely going to now. What a great looking dish.
Have you ever tried spraying breaded foods with food spray before you bake them? I think it helps them brown up a little better, and keeps moisture in. This looks like a good idea, Pam.
Just the tile makes my mouth water 🙂 Have a great week. Diane
I’ve been meaning to try something like this as snacks for Remy! Thanks for the inspiration!
i eat avocado in some form every day, but i haven’t tried this! i KNOW i’d love it, the fries have it all!
