Asian Turkey Meatballs with a Lime Sesame Dipping Sauce
I found this recipe on Skinnytaste that looked too good to resist. We all (kids included) thought they tasted great and my husband couldn’t get enough of the dipping sauce. My kids especially liked that I served them with little forks inserted… it made them more fun to eat. I served these meatballs with a sweet and tangy slaw (recipe to post tomorrow) that was delicious.
How to Make Asian Turkey Meatballs with a Lime Sesame Dipping Sauce
Combine the soy sauce, lime juice, water, sesame oil, green onion, and honey together in a dish. Whisk until well combined; set aside.
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
Combine the ground turkey, egg, green onion, cilantro, ginger, garlic, panko, soy sauce, sesame oil, sea salt, and freshly cracked pepper, to taste together in a large bowl. Gently mix the ingredients until well combined.
Shape 1/4 cup of mixture into a ball then place into the baking dish. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture.
Place the meatballs into the oven and bake until cooked through, about 15 minutes. Serve immediately along with the dipping sauce. Enjoy.

Love meatballs and these sounds delicious!
They definitely look more fun to eat with the little forks! And the flavors here are so great! Love that you used turkey too!
I love your presentation with the little forks already installed.
Hi Pam,
What an amazing combination of flavours. Super delicious!
Cheers,
Lia.
These sound so good! Love the dipping sauce and I love how easy they are!
Oh, Pam…these look SO delicious, and how cute are they? My family loves Asian flavors, and I know we will love these! I can’t to wait for you to post the slaw that you served with them. I want to make the whole meal! 🙂
Love the presentation, Pam! And the sauce… yea, I can see where your hubby couldn’t get enough of it… I would probably drink it!! lol
this is one of our favorite Skinny Taste recipes!
This looks chic! That is a great appetizer when we have guests.
This looks great! And your presentation is super cute!
Your recipe doesn’t seem to mention it, but I see an egg in there for binding, right?
Starr,
Thanks for letting me know… I have corrected the recipe.
Cheers,
Pam
Love the little forks! Can you believe my Italian husband doesn’t like meatballs? The only time he’ll eat them is if I slice them thin and put them on a pizza.
I’ll have to make these for me and my SIL though! 😀
The lime sesame sauce sounds amazing – and the forks are really cute
The turkey meatballs look very juicy 🙂
Hi Pam. I wanted to let you know that I made your cilantro lime chicken tacos last week and they were such a HUGE hit. My kids begged for a third taco. I’m actually making them again this week for my daughter’s sleepover. I posted the recipe on my blog today, with a shoutout and link to you and your site. My photo isn’t the greatest as I was having a difficult time photographing those darn tacos, plus I was super hungry and just wanted to get in a photograph at that point before the taco’s got cold. Anyway, thanks for another wonderful recipe.
xoxo,
Jackie
Oh my these sound wonderful!
i’ve made these before too, it’s an older recipe right? they’re SO delicious, and your pictures are just gorgeous!
What I want to know is, where do you buy the gallon/half-gallon jug of soy-sauce? Was that a gift from Kikhoman? ‘Cause I like it!
“Kikkoman,” sorry.
I’ve had this recipe on my mind for a while now…must make this soon! This looks delicious!
I think I need to create some kind of vegetarian ball of some sort to dunk in that sauce. It sounds delicious!
The meatballs sound wonderful. I love the dipping sauce sounds so yummy.
These sound so delicious! I could also see them made into teeny-tiny appetizers as well.
These sound awesome! Sometimes my bf and I don’t feel like a proper dinner and like to munch on stuff instead…how neat would it be to come over with a bunch of these little Asian meatballs?! The forks are adorable too – my mom always makes fun of me for eating my meatballs that way but now I know I’m not alone 🙂
These would go over really well here! Wish I had green onions, and these would be on the menu tonight.
Looks delicious Pam! What a nice presentation too! I will have to try these meatballs but will do on my smoker. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Don
I like meatballs very much!
yum! the scallions make these for me. well, the scallions and your cute little forks. 🙂
Big hit in my family. Making more tomorrow!
I never turn my oven on to 500 that’s just dangerous in my hous with pets that can’t stand any trace if fumes from the oven. Can you suggest a lower temperature and longer cooking time please?
You could try baking them at 450 for 20-23 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
Pam
Made these last night. They were unbelievably delicious. I didn’t expect them to be so juicy and flavorful Thank you.
Paired with an Asian salad from Costco. Easy peasy and a keeper. Thanks for sharing.
Also, I used gluten free bread crumbs and they turned out great.
Hi Pam
I am having a rather elegant buffet for a author visiting out book club meeting. I want to seve your Asian meatballs however, to me Turkey even with all the great ingredients in them, turkey to me has no taste.
I am going to use ground pork. My question is have you ever made the meatballs ahead, froze then?
If so how did you heat them after.
Thank you and I would appreciate your ideas or opinion.
Carmella
Hi Carmella,
To be honest, I have never tried freezing the meatballs ahead of time but The Nourishing Gourmet has some great suggestions here: http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2015/01/how-to-freeze-meatballs.html
I am sure the pork will be delicious in this recipe! Let me know how they turn out.
Cheers,
Pam
It sat to preheat oven to 500 is that a type-o? It seem a bit high?
Christine,
500 degrees is correct. Yes, it’s high but the high temp will help caramelize the outside of the meatball and cook it quickly without drying it out.
