Camping Cuisine – Pastrami and Swiss on Rye

Pastrami and Swiss on Rye

I wanted to make something healthy yet hearty for lunch, so I decided on Pastrami sandwiches on rye bread with Swiss cheese and tomato slices. I served it with hummus, crackers, carrots, and leftover pasta salad. Grilling the sandwiches made them extra tasty, and I loved the different textures–soft and gooey inside and crisp outside. Simple, quick, and so delicious.

  1. I love a good hot pastrami on rye! Can’t stand camping, but it has to be all the better with pastrami on your side!

  2. Pastrami is my son’s current favorite sandwich meat! You could write a camping cookbook! You have fresh cherries on that plate, too! You’ll have to tell us how you organize/plan out your camping meals. *sigh* Somehow, corn flakes for breakfast along with roasted wieners isn’t going to cut it for me anymore!
