Apple Slice “Donuts”
My kids have never loved apple slices so much. I surprised them today with this fun and tasty after-school snack. I loved that they were eating fruit and they loved that they were “frosted” with peanut butter and topped with either sprinkles or mini chocolate chips. The apple slice “donuts” disappeared quickly and put huge smiles on my kids’ faces.
How to Make Apple Slice “Donuts”
Slice the apples crosswise. Use a small knife or the end of a pastry tip to cut out a circle in the center of each slice. Pat the slices with a paper towel (so the peanut butter will spread easily) then spread some peanut but on top. Sprinkle the top with mini chocolate chips or sprinkles. Serve immediately. Enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1-2 apples sliced crosswise
- Peanut butter
- Mini chocolate chips
- Sprinkles

What a simple yet great snack!
Such a good idea! Guilt free!
This is such a fun idea! I’m not sure my kids would like them as much as real donuts but its a close second…lol.
I am loving Honey Crisp apples right now, and this would be a delicious way to eat them!
You are a clever mom Pam. Apples and peanut butter is a favorite Bev snack and the SIL is off to Cosby today to bring back some local mountain apples and fresh cider.
What healthy “donuts!” Love the idea of this — and definitely will give it a try. Thanks!
Brilliant snack!
Really beautiful Pam, we love apples!
What a great way to make a healthy snack fun for the kids.
I LOVE THESE. I might have to eat all my apples this way from now on.
this is so clever! kids shouldn’t need to be convinced to eat apples, but if they do, this method is brilliant.
