Pumpkin, Apple and Mint Dog Treats
Grace recently ran out of her latest batch of dog treats, so I went looking for a new flavor for her to try. I found an easy pumpkin, apple, and mint dog treats recipe on Damn Delicious that I thought Grace would enjoy. I cooked them a little longer than called for so they would be more crisp, but other than that kept the recipe the same. These pumpkin, apple, and mint dog treats were a big hit! Grace devoured the first treat in seconds and eagerly hoped for more.
Pumpkin, Apple, and Mint Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups whole wheat flour, or more, as needed
- 1 apple, cored and grated
- ½ cup fresh mint leaves, chopped finely
- ¼ cup fresh curly leaf parsley leaves, chopped finely ***Use curly variety only, others may be toxic
How to Make Pumpkin, Apple, and Mint Dog Treats
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk the pumpkin puree with the beaten eggs until well combined and creamy. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour while mixing with a rubber spatula until just combined. Add 1/4 cup of flour at a time, just until the dough is no longer sticky.
Add the apple, mint, and curly leaf parsley, then mix until incorporated. Add more flour, as needed, if the dough is too wet.
Working on a floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
Using dog treat cutters, cut out desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown and a bit crisp, about 25-30 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container in the freezer or refrigerator. Enjoy.

Jennie,
I’m so glad your little dog loves these treats. I’m not sure how many your vet would recommend but I give my dog 1 treat a day.

These Pumpkin, Apple, and Mint Dog Treats sound absolutely delicious! I love that they use such wholesome ingredients. I can’t wait to try making these for my pup. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Hi- I am about to make these for my dog, but I am going to use curly parsley. From your photograph, it looks like you used Italian parsley (or some other flat leaf parsley). You should probably change your recipe as flat leaf parsleys can be toxic to dogs. Curly isn’t (the kind you get next to your hamburger as a garnish, but never eat.).
Kristi,
Thank you! I’ve corrected the recipe to reflect curly leaf parsley. I hope you dog loves them.
