Peanut Butter Dog Bone Treats
Thank you all for the kind words about my cut finger. It’s feeling a bit better today and I was happily able to type up this recipe–hunt & peck style!
My dog Grace loves dog treats. I’ve always wanted to try making homemade bones for her so I decided to finally give it a try this past weekend. I found a recipe on Food Network that sounded good and it used ingredients that I had on hand. These peanut butter dog bone treats took only a few minutes to throw together and about 20 minutes to bake. My dog absolutely loves these treats and I feel good about feeding them to her.
How to Make Peanut Butter Dog Bone Treats
Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees. Line a heavy baking sheet with tin foil then coat with cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, parmesan cheese, and baking powder. Stir in the broth and peanut butter until the mixture forms a crumbly dough. Press the dough together to form a ball.
On a lightly floured work surface, knead the dough for 30 seconds until smooth. Roll out the dough into a 10-inch circle, about 1/2 inch thick. Using a dog treat cutter, cut out bones and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake until lightly golden, 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.
We both hate peanut butter but now if only I had a dog that would be a great way to get rid of it LOL Hope you are well Diane
Thank you for this recipe, I will try it out. I’m baking treats for my dog regularly, using this recipe: 1 cup of whole wheat flour, 1 cup of corn flour, the same like for making polenta, 1 cup of oats, 1 egg, a hand full of chopped parsley, 1 clove of minced garlic (optional), a handful of fried bacon crumbs. Mix, adding water approx, 1,5 cup, cut into rectangular shapes – and bake in 350F for about 15 min on each side or until light brown and crispy. Best regards and wishing you a fast healing!
And I have forgotten to list one large spoon of olive oil in the ingredients.
I have to make those Pame! Im sure my Mouska would love these!!!
So glad to hear you’re feeling better! And it looks like these treats were a hit!
We think alike. I have been making peanut butter dog treats for my dog since she was born 4 years ago. I make them small, about 1 inch, and use them for treats. Glad you injury didn’t take you out for too long.
Well, Gracie is just adorable. I must find the dog cookie recipe that was in the book I read a few weeks back (The Mapmaker’s Children) and send it to you.
A happy dog :-))
I’m a little disappointed that Gracie didn’t write this post…or at least a review on YELP 😉
Glad you are feeling healed enough to type. Some dogs can be allergic to peanuts and they also should not have salt. Just thought I would tell you in case Grace has a reaction to something xx
My dog would absolutely love these! I think it always makes us feel warm inside when our pets like a homemade treat that we made special, just for them!
Dog treats are so simple! And usually my girl isn’t too picky. 😛 Peanut Butter is the best! Thanks!
