Lemon-Garlic Kale Sauté
I wanted to make a healthy and easy side dish to go along with the chicken I was making. I decided to sauté some kale with some olive oil, garlic slices, crushed red pepper, and lemon juice. It took only minutes to make and tasted wonderful! I really loved how the lemon brightened up the flavor of the kale. My kids didn’t love this side dish but my husband and I did.
How to Make Lemon-Garlic Kale Sauté
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic; sauté for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the kale to the skillet along with 2 tablespoons of water. Cook, stirring often for 2-3 minutes. Season with crushed red pepper, sea salt, and freshly cracked pepper, to taste.
Stir in the lemon juice and toss to coat evenly before spooning the kale into a serving dish. Top with shaved Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

Looks good. I grew it in the summer. Tried Kale Chips. Pretty good.

I love kale, and I am always looking for new ways to serve it. This looks like it will be a new favorite way to serve it!
I love serving both spinach and kale this way. My kids are not the biggest fans of it either. Have a blessed day, Pam.
I use the “Eating Well” method to cook my kale. They add some sherry vinegar at the end instead of lemon. I guess any acid would work. It’s really yummy! I’m also a big fan of the kale, potato and sausage soup. Have you tried that?
YUM!! Sounds amazing, I love Kale, and I am always looking for new healthy side dishes.
Love this Pam, look tasty!
I grew kale a few years back and it was very tough, it put me off somewhat but looking at this I think it is time to try again 🙂 Happy New Year Diane
It is hard to get kids to eat green vegetables but the kid in me loves this.
Ohh this sounds good!! My Kale is still going strong in my garden and my lemon trees are producing like mad, so this sounds to be the perfect side dish to make. Thanks.
I am always looking for new ways to try kale!
I appreciate that you always give us the low-down on how your kids liked the recipe (or not). Thank you. I make your kale and grape tomatoes, sauteed with garlic all the time, and the kale, sausage, and white bean soup is a huge fav here. Thanks for the great recipes.
Love it! I haven’t had kale yet but I’m hoping that changes in 2013 🙂
What a healthy delicious way to kick off the new year! Perfect for fueling my kale addiction.
I love kale, and I love simple dishes like this. My husband would not even try this, so I am glad to hear your kids at least tasted it.
This sounds very healthy.
I haven’t really forayed into many kale dishes yet. This sounds really delicious. I also want to try kale chips.
I love this healthy side dish.
I’ve never cared for kale since I worked in produce departments back in the mid 80s. I really don’t know why. So I’ll join your kids, where are the hot pockets? 😉
I made this tonight to go with broiled wild salmon centre fillets, pan-fried potatoes, and garden cherry tomatoes. It was wonderful. Just like going to a restaurant. Have put it in my recipe file and will definitely make it again.
Nice recipe but I would skip the cheese to make the dish healthier unless it helps lure the kids. Parmesan cheese is very dense in calories.
