Hoisin Sauce
I was making an Asian-themed dinner and realized the marinade for the chicken required hoisin sauce and of course, I didn’t have any. Thankfully, the site I found the marinade recipe on, Up Close & Tasty, also had a hoisin sauce recipe which I happened to have all of the ingredients for! It’s not a traditional hoisin sauce but it’s delicious just the same. This sauce can be used in marinades, sauces, vinaigrettes, and dips. Store the extra sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
How to Make Hoisin Sauce
Combine the soy sauce, peanut butter, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and sriracha together in a bowl. Whisk until well combined. Set aside for 10-15 minutes before using to allow the flavors to combine.
Store remaining sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp seasoned rice vinegar
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- ¼ tsp sriracha more if desired
Instructions
- Combine the soy sauce, peanut butter, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and sriracha together in a bowl. Whisk until well combined. Set aside for 10-15 minutes before using to allow the flavors to combine.
- Store the remaining sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
I am sure it is better than the store bought since it is fresh a pure.
It would be perfect to dip or a marinade.
Have a beautiful Easter season. Blessings, Catherine xo
You are the best, Pam. I love hoisin sauce, but never thought it could have done at home. Thank you so much!
I never even thought of making my own.
How smart are you?
I mean I use the stuff on everything! And it’s not cheap.
Excellent idea!
This sauce sounds delicious! I think I have almost all of those ingredients at home right now. I bet this would be great on steak.
Making your own hoisin sauce is such a great idea. Will have to try it. I sometimes don’t like the flavor of the bottled ones.
Lovely! A great idea. I always buy mine…
Cheers,
Rosa
How neat. I always buy my sauce but now I have a recipe to make homemade.
i never seem to have hoisin sauce when I need it, but I pretty much always have these other ingredients. WIN.
I just love using hoisin sauce. Why didn’t I think of making my own? Fantastic idea. Pinning!
