Blended Basil Martini
I have never liked gin so I don’t ever really drink martinis. When I recently went to Lincoln City with my sisters, we tried the most amazing blended basil martinis at a restaurant called Kyllos. I was quite nervous to try one because of my dislike for gin but it was absolutely AMAZING. The basil/lime flavor is so strong that you don’t even notice the gin. ;-). We all loved them so much we went back a couple of nights later for another round. Thankfully the bartender told me the ingredients and I played around with them until it tasted like the basil martini at the restaurant. Refreshing, delicious, and my new favorite drink!

Basil in martini…that’s new to me and it looks so inviting!
It’s a pretty color in a pretty glass. It’s always nice to be able to duplicate something you enjoyed, especially when it’s attached to nice memories like your weekend with your sisters.
What a lovely and refreshing cocktail. Pam, you are the next Ina Garten.
The color in these is amazing! So vibrant.
what a gorgeous hue! i’ve never liked martinis, but then again, i’ve never tried a basil one!
I made these the other night thanks to your blog…. Since it was the middle of the week, my husband and I split one. He had never tried these before, and really enjoyed the refreshing taste. Thanks for measurement!s… we’ll be making these often!
Is it possible to substitute vodka for gin?
Hi Candace,
We asked the bartenders the same thing and they said that it just doesn’t taste as good. We trusted them and it was delicious. I haven’t tried it with vodka but would love to hear how it turns out if you try.
Cheers,
Pam
Absolute Citron is the Best in place of Gin if you do decide to try another would be the New Lime flavor

I had my first basil martini at Kyllos and googled it to find the recipe. I was SO delighted that your recipe was inspired by the same drink at Kyllos. One of the best cocktails I have ever tasted! Thanks for the recipe.
Trish,
That’s where I had my first basil martini too. It was SO DELICIOUS I had to try to re-create it at home. I’m glad you like the recipe.

Hello!! So happy I found this recipe! Kyllos is one of my all time favorites and would always order the Basil Martini. I unfortunately didn’t have the gin in my cupboard, so settled for vodka. Turned out fantastic. Thank you again.
Summer is almost gone and wanting to use up my basil and wanted to recreate the cocktail from this exact place that I had years ago.
Pretty similar but I just should have blended longer. Thanks for asking the bar tender the recipe, I never did and regretted.
