Parmesan Halibut
This parmesan halibut is a family favorite that I’ve been making for a long while now and I just realized I’ve never posted the recipe. My daughter had her braces tightened yesterday which always means we need to have a soft dinner. Last night, I made this parmesan halibut with some orzo and roasted tomatoes. The entire meal was delicious but the star of the show is always this parmesan halibut. It turns out tender and delicious with the tastiest cheesy topping and I love that this recipe is easy enough to make during the week but special enough to serve to guests.
Parmesan Halibut
Ingredients:
- ½ cup of mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp parmesan, grated
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1½ lbs halibut skin on
- Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges
How to Make Parmesan Halibut
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
Whisk the mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese, and minced garlic together until well combined.
Place the halibut pieces in the baking dish skin side down then season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Brush the mayonnaise mixture evenly over each piece of halibut on the top and sides. Sprinkle the remaining bit of parmesan evenly on each piece of fish.
Place into the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Turn the oven to broil and cook, watching carefully for another 1-2 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fish is cooked through. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve with lemon wedges. Enjoy.

wow my mouth is watering!! Can’t remember when I last time had some halibut…yours looks so meaty, flaky and succulent.
Looks moist and delicious Pam – I’ve cooked halibut a couple of times and yet to be happy with it – think I may get it over done. I’ll try this next time.
That looks just about perfect to me will be on the menu here very soon. Thanks for sharing. Diane
Halibut is such a great fish, isn’t it? Flavorful, but it also is a nice canvas for other flavors — like this terrific cheese topping. Great dish — thanks.
I wouñd love to make this fish pretty soon Pam!
I love parmesan cheese as a coating for fish. This recipe looks fabulous.
This was so good. After it had been in the oven10 min it was nicely browned and I didn’t need to broil it. Moist and flavorful

Going to give this a shot tonight. Fingers crossed! Will keep you posted!
Tried this recipe tonight and it was a hit! Very flavourful and tasty. I made a nice side salad with grapes and baby spinach. Excellent summer meal. Thanks!
Allison,

I do this recipe with the addition of one tablespoon of dried Marjoram in the Mayo spread, it adds another layer of flavour. The Mayo spread seals the fish and allows it to cook in it’s own juices.
Dave,
Yum! Sounds delicious. I’m so glad you enjoy this recipe. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.

My favorite halibut recipe! Have you ever just broiled it without baking?
Robin,
Not personally, but my mother in law has and loves the way it turns out.

I normally don’t cook halibut because it is so easy to overcook! However, that was not the case here, and the halibut was absolutely delicious. Thank you for such a great recipe. It will be my “go to” recipe from now on whenever I cook halibut. Very appealing from an appearance standpoint also. Wouldn’t hesitate to serve it to guests.
Jane,
I’m so happy you enjoyed this halibut recipe! Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

10 stars. I added lemon zest to the mayo mix. 9 min on middle rack, 2 min on upper for 1″ thick filets. Amazing!!!
