Parmesan Halibut

Parmesan Halibut

My daughter had her braces tightened yesterday, which always means she needs a soft dinner, so I made this easy Parmesan halibut recipe for dinner, which is a family favorite I’ve been making for years. This cheesy & delicious Parmesan halibut pairs nicely with garlic rice, creamy mashed potato casserole, orzo and roasted tomatoes, roasted asparagus, a loaded Caesar salad, crusty bread, etc.–the options are endless! This easy halibut recipe turns out tender and delicious with the tastiest cheesy topping, and I love that it’s easy enough to make during the week but special enough to serve to guests.

Parmesan Halibut

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp parmesan, grated
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced

How to Make Parmesan Halibut

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Coat a baking dish with cooking spray.

Whisk the mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic until well combined.

Place the halibut pieces in the baking dish skin side down, then season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.

Brush the mayonnaise mixture evenly over each piece of halibut on the top and sides. Sprinkle the remaining bit of Parmesan evenly on each piece of fish.

Place into the oven and bake for 10 minutes.

Turn the oven to broil and cook, watching carefully for another 1-2 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fish is cooked through.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve with lemon wedges. Enjoy.

  1. Looks moist and delicious Pam – I’ve cooked halibut a couple of times and yet to be happy with it – think I may get it over done. I’ll try this next time.

  2. This was so good. After it had been in the oven10 min it was nicely browned and I didn’t need to broil it. Moist and flavorful

I do this recipe with the addition of one tablespoon of dried Marjoram in the Mayo spread, it adds another layer of flavour. The Mayo spread seals the fish and allows it to cook in it’s own juices.

I normally don’t cook halibut because it is so easy to overcook! However, that was not the case here, and the halibut was absolutely delicious. Thank you for such a great recipe. It will be my “go to” recipe from now on whenever I cook halibut. Very appealing from an appearance standpoint also. Wouldn’t hesitate to serve it to guests.

10 stars. I added lemon zest to the mayo mix. 9 min on middle rack, 2 min on upper for 1″ thick filets. Amazing!!!
