A Week in the Woods
We headed down the road in our motor home for a week in Idaho to visit my husband’s family. First stop was near a small town called Riggins where we stayed at my husband’s father’s family cabin. We were able to spend quality time with his father, stepmom, and oldest brother in one of our favorite places. We spent a few days relaxing, sleeping in, talking, swinging, hiking, eating delicious meals made by my mother in law, playing games, laughing, playing at the river, driving the four wheelers, and enjoying each other’s company. It was just what we all needed and I only wish we would have had a little more time together.
We headed to McCall to spend some time with my husband’s mom and stepdad as well as his two brothers. Our first day, the kids tried water skiing for the first time, and although they didn’t stand all the way up, they both tried very hard several times and had a lot of fun. Another day, my daughter, husband, and brother Brett went on a six mile hike to Hard Butte Lake where they enjoyed the views and did some fly fishing and caught a rainbow trout. Meanwhile, the rest of us headed to town for a delicious lunch followed by a really fun afternoon of ice skating. We also cooled off by playing at the river but sadly that turned into quite an adventure because our dog Grace swallowed a fish hook. Thankfully the amazing Dr. Ruble and his team at Cascade Veterinary Clinic saved the day! Her x-rays showed the hook stopped just short of her larynx – which meant a quick, painless, and fairly easy fix. We seriously can’t thank them enough for their amazing service!!!! We also spent a two nights celebrating my husband’s 30th high school reunion with his wonderful classmates and had such a fantastic time. It was a whirlwind trip and we enjoyed every second of it.
I cleaned our motor home, finished laundry, and stocked the kitchen today so I can get back to cooking and posting new recipes tomorrow.
Because of our slow connection, I cannot download many of your photos but what I can see it looks like you had a great time. The fires this year are really bad all over, so sad. Take care Diane
