Cinnamon French Toast Bites
These buttery cinnamon French toast bites are fun for kids and delicious for everyone!
I was online recently and saw somebody slicing up a hot dog bun and the pieces looked like miniature pieces of bread, which instantly made me want to make some mini French toasts with them! Thankfully, I had some hot dog buns sitting on the counter so I got to work. After cooking the little French toasts, I brushed each side with some melted butter & tossed them in some cinnamon sugar. These little cinnamon French toast bites were a huge hit with my entire family and they disappeared quickly. We all loved how pillowy soft they were and they tasted extra special dipped in some warm maple syrup.
Cinnamon French Toast Bites
Mini French Toasts:
- 2 eggs, very well whisked
- 2 tsp heavy cream or milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Dash of ground cinnamon, to taste
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp butter, divided
- 4 hot dog buns, sliced like a loaf of bread into 1-inch thick pieces, (don’t open the buns!), ends discarded
Cinnamon Sugar:
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
How to Make Cinnamon French Toast Bites
Whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl until very well combined.
Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Dip both sides of each bread slice into the egg mixture then place them into the hot skillet. Cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes then flip over and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
Meanwhile, mix together the white sugar and the cinnamon in a small dish until well combined; set aside until needed.
Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the microwave; set aside until needed.
Once the French toasts are cooked, brush each side with the melted butter then immediately dip each side in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Serve immediately with warm maple syrup and enjoy.

wow these look terrific and remind me of churro!
I’ll be honest, I wish my wife hadn’t discovered these as now the whole family is addicted and I’m here having to figure out how to make them while she’s down with a cold!
Freddy,
I bet they will make her feel better! I’m glad your family loves them. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
