Peas with Butter and Shallots

Peas with Butter and Shallots

I picked up some English peas recently from Trader Joe’s, and I made this recipe with butter and shallots. This easy pea recipe was super quick, simple, and tasty, and we thought they paired nicely with Julia Child’s roasted chicken, potato casserole, and dinner rolls.

Peas with Butter and Shallots:

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz fresh English Peas (frozen would work great too)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 small shallot, diced
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste

How to Make Peas with Butter and Shallots

Cook the peas in a large saucepan of well-salted boiling water for 1½-2 minutes, until tender (less time if using frozen peas). Remove from the water and drain.

Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the shallots and cook, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes.

Add the cooked/drained peas to the butter and shallots, mixing well to coat them, and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste.

Serve immediately. Enjoy.

  5. The peas were eating up in Malaga (Spain), where I live, it does more than 30000 years. In the prehistoric caves jars of mud have revealed themselves with "chicharos" since here we call them.
It is a very typical plate, to which we add Iberian ham…
Cocinais in The United States, recipes very similar to that of our forbears, for what we have very much jointly.
