Old-Fashioned Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
I found this easy old-fashioned banana cake with cream cheese frosting recipe in my Ina Garten cookbook ~ Barefoot Contessa – How Easy is That? The cake smelled heavenly while it baked and the frosting is super simple! My whole family loved this cake.

How to Make an Old-Fashioned Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-inch springform cake pan.
Make the cake by beating together the bananas, white sugar, and brown sugar with a mixer until combined. Add the oil, eggs, sour cream, vanilla, and orange zest; beat until creamy and smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture and mix with a rubber spatula until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Place into the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer is inserted in the center and comes out clean. Remove from the oven and cool in the pan for 15 minutes before moving it to a rack to cool completely.
Make the frosting when the cake has completely cooled by combining the cream cheese, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Beat with a mixer until creamy and smooth. Add the sifted powdered sugar and mix with a rubber spatula making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl.
Spread the frosting thickly on top of the cake and decorate the top with walnut halves. Enjoy!

While reading this through, I noticed 2. Is blank. Is there something missed?
No missing step – just a posting issue. Corrected.
Love banana cake and this looks awesome Pam!
I love banana cake, and your cream cheese frosting looks wonderful! I leave the walnuts out of cake, too, so no one can fuss.
Leave it to Ina to have the best banana cake recipe! If only we could keep bananas around long enough to let them brown…I’m going to have to hide them from Remy if I want to make this!
Isn’t it nice when you find a recipe you like and you don’t need to run out and buy special ingredients. The cake looks great.
