Fresh Tomato Salad
This simple and beautiful fresh tomato salad, made with juicy tomatoes, thinly-sliced red onions, fresh herbs, and a drizzle of oil and vinegar, lets summer produce shine.

It’s been fairly hot around here lately, so I’ve been making a lot of sandwiches, salads, and smorgasbord meals to help keep the house cool. This beautiful and easy fresh tomato salad recipe is simple to make, only has a few ingredients, and it’s mouthwateringly good. The juicy tomatoes are the star of the show, but the herbs, white balsamic vinaigrette, and sliced onion make this salad extra special. This delicious and simple tomato salad paired nicely with roast beef sandwiches and some potato salad.
Fresh Tomato Salad
White Balsamic Vinaigrette:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
- 1 clove of garlic, grated or finely minced
- Pinch of sugar (or honey), to taste
- Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
Fresh Tomato Salad:
- 7 Campari tomatoes, quartered
- A handful of cherry tomatoes, halved
- ¼ red onion, sliced thinly  ***If too strong in flavor, soak in ice water for 10 minutes, then dry on a towel
- 2 tsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tsp fresh chives, snipped
- Several baby basil leaves (or fresh basil leaves chopped)

How to Make a Fresh Tomato Salad
Prepare the white balsamic vinaigrette by whisking the olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, garlic, sugar, sea salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to taste in a small glass jar. Set aside to allow the flavors time to mingle while you prepare the salad.
Prepare the fresh tomato salad by combining the tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, red onion, parsley, chives, and baby basil leaves in a serving bowl.
Drizzle the well-whisked vinaigrette over the salad and gently toss to coat.
Cover and set aside to allow the flavors time to mingle, for at least 30 minutes.
To serve, gently toss the salad again right before serving. Enjoy.

Looks delicious and a great use of fresh tomatoes. Due to our Italy trip, we planted our tomatoes late and they are just coming in so I’m looking for good recipes like this for them.
