This addictive spicy sesame ginger edamame is a healthy and tasty snack that’s ready in minutes and fun to eat!

Spicy Sesame Ginger Edamame

My family loves edamame and we think it’s a tasty, protein-filled snack, that’s super quick and easy to make. I whipped up this spicy sesame ginger edamame to pair some fried rice I made for lunch recently. I kept the flavors simple and served the edamame with spicy chili crisp, soy sauce, and black vinegar on the side so everyone could doctor their portion the way they prefer it.

Spicy Sesame Ginger Edamame

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz frozen edamame
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh ginger paste
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2-1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Black sesame seeds, for serving (optional)
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for serving (optional)

How to Make Spicy Sesame Ginger Edamame

Blanche the frozen edamame in a large saucepan of well-salted boiling water over high heat for 2 minutes. Remove and drain the, place edamame on a clean towel or a few paper towels. Dry them as well as possible.

Heat the toasted sesame oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once the oil is HOT, add the edamame and cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.

Add the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes, and cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and season well with sea salt, to taste. Pour into a serving bowl and sprinkle the top with black sesame seeds and toasted sesame seeds, if desired.

Serve immediately with spicy chili crisp, soy sauce, and black vinegar on the side, if desired. Enjoy.
