Quick & Easy Homemade Microwave Popcorn

Quick & Easy Microwave Popcorn

This isn’t really a recipe but it worked so well & it was so easy, that I had to share it with you. My kids had two friends over for the day and they wanted to settle down and watch a movie. I decided to surprise them with a bit of popcorn. I have recently been seeing lots of microwave popcorn on blogs. I decided to give it a try. I made sure to use a large tempered glass bowl and a tempered glass plate… make sure you use microwave-friendly utensils! I melted a bit of butter in the bottom of the bowl then added the corn kernels and coated them evenly before cooking it in the microwave. It turned out perfect! The kids loved the popcorn and I loved that it had no chemicals and it took less than 5 minutes to make!

How to Make Quick & Easy Homemade Microwave Popcorn

Add the butter to a large microwave-safe glass bowl. Place into the microwave and cook for 20-25 seconds, until melted. Add the popcorn kernels and coat them evenly in the butter. Place a microwave-safe lid or plate over the bowl and place it into the microwave. Cook for 3 minutes – 3 minutes & 30 seconds, or until the popping slows down to about 4 seconds between each pop, being very careful not to over-cook the popcorn. Side Note: My popcorn took 3 minutes. Season with sea salt and more melted butter if desired. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

  1. Brilliant! I think I need to lay in some of this popcorn to help keep people “in snacks” for the wedding festivities, which are now scheduled to start 2 days before the wedding….

  2. I have actually never made popcorn not from a box! This is awesome.
