Spicy Broccoli with Garlic
I was serving an Asian-style shrimp dish for dinner and I wanted a quick and healthy side dish to serve with it. I found this broccoli recipe on Martha Stewart that looked good and easy. I used a bit less crushed red pepper flakes for my kids’ portions and adapted the recipe to suit my family’s tastes. It took minutes to make and it was delicious. My kids especially loved the tang from the vinegar.
How to Make Spicy Broccoli with Garlic
Bring water to a simmer in a skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets; cook, covered, until bright green, 2-3 minutes.
Stir in the olive oil, minced garlic, sea salt & freshly cracked pepper, to taste, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring often, for 2 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
Remove the skillet from heat; stir in vinegar then mix until evenly coated. Pour into a serving bowl. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

This is so fresh and pretty looking. I love how it’s not cooked to death in a lot of water. To me, rice vinegar has such a nice flavor. I’ll take a double portion please!
I love crushed red pepper – its probably my most used spice! 😀
I love broccoli, and my favorite way to cook it is oven roasting it. I don’t like to turn my oven on when it’s hot (like it is today). This will be the perfect side dish with dinner tonight!
