Browned Butter Broccoli with Mizithra Cheese
My sister has made browned butter broccoli with mizithra cheese for years and I am just now finally giving it a go. I’m kicking myself for waiting so long! What could be better than nutty brown butter sauteed with broccoli which is topped with a salty and creamy mizithra cheese? It’s a wonderful side dish, although if I’m being honest, I could eat just a bowl of this broccoli for dinner and be perfectly happy. I will be serving this recipe a lot in the future–it’s a good thing my entire family loved it too.
How to Make Browned Butter Broccoli with Mizithra Cheese
Make the brown butter by heating the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring often, until melted. It will start to bubble, foam, and separate then will turn golden brown with a nutty aroma. Side Note: Watch the butter carefully while cooking because it can burn quickly & easily.
Add the broccoli and a dash of crushed red pepper flakes then toss to coat evenly in the brown butter. Cover with a lid and cook for 2 minutes; remove lid & stir then cover and steam for another 1-2 minutes, or until the broccoli is crisp-tender. Season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste.
Pour the broccoli into a serving dish then sprinkle with mizithra cheese and serve additional cheese on the side. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

I am always looking for new recipes to give broccoli some interest. This looks like a good one.
That looks fabulous but I would be a bit scared of burning the broccoli. Take care Diane
I love how clean and fresh this looks. And broccoli is one of my favorite vegetables. Thank you for the recipe.
This sounds great! I’ve never had mizithra cheese…but I need to try it.
